Recently, in an exclusive interview with Digital First Magazine, Bhavika shared her professional trajectory, insights on diversity and inclusion, the secret mantra behind her success, future plans, words of wisdom, and much more. The following excerpts are taken from the interview.

Hi Bhavika. How did you first become interested in technology and what propelled you into it?

From a young age, I was always curious about how things work, and this curiosity naturally extended to computers and technology. My interest truly took off during high school when I started experimenting with basic coding and understanding the potential of data in problem-solving. The ever-evolving nature of technology and its ability to transform industries fascinated me, which is why I chose a career path in data analytics. The realization that technology could be used to improve lives and drive innovation across sectors propelled me into this space.

What do you love the most about your current role?

What I enjoy the most is the combination of problem-solving and innovation. I get to work with incredibly talented teams, diving deep into data to uncover insights that can drive real-world impact. I love that every day brings a new challenge, and the solutions we come up with can influence the direction of business strategy or even entire industries. Additionally, being in a role where I can mentor others and help shape the next generation of tech leaders is deeply rewarding.

What are the three major trends do you foresee in your industry in the next 12 months?

In the next year, I expect to see:

  • AI and Automation: There will be a greater emphasis on the integration of AI and machine learning to enhance decision-making and automate more complex business processes.
  • Data Privacy and Governance: As data regulations become stricter globally, companies will invest more heavily in robust governance frameworks to ensure compliance and protect consumer trust.
  • Edge Computing: With IoT and 5G gaining traction, more processing power will move closer to data sources, allowing for faster and more efficient analytics, especially in real-time applications.

What are your thoughts on diversity and inclusion in tech? How important is it to have authentic conversations with leaders, professionals, and changemakers to create more acceptance across the globe?

Diversity and inclusion are absolutely essential in tech. Diverse teams bring different perspectives, which lead to more creative solutions and better outcomes. However, creating a truly inclusive environment means going beyond just hiring diverse talent; it requires fostering an environment where all voices are heard and valued. Authentic conversations with leaders and changemakers are crucial because they help dismantle stereotypes, bring awareness to systemic issues, and pave the way for lasting cultural change. The more open and honest these conversations are, the more we can work together to build a truly inclusive industry.

Thank you! I’d say the key to my success has been a blend of continuous learning, embracing failure, and focusing on impact. Technology evolves quickly, so staying curious and constantly updating your skill set is important. I also believe that failure is a part of innovation—every setback is an opportunity to learn. Most importantly, I always strive to keep the bigger picture in mind, ensuring that the work I do has a meaningful and measurable impact.

Is there a particular person you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are?

I’m incredibly grateful to my parents and my husband, as they have been my biggest supporters throughout my journey. My parents instilled in me the values of hard work and perseverance from a young age, always encouraging me to pursue my passion for technology, even when it wasn’t the conventional path. My husband has been my constant pillar of support, always believing in my abilities and pushing me to aim higher, especially during challenging times. Their unwavering support and belief in me have been instrumental in getting me to where I am today.

What does the term “authentic leadership” mean to you?

Authentic leadership means leading with integrity, transparency, and empathy. It’s about being true to your values and creating an environment where people feel comfortable being themselves. For me, it’s also about showing vulnerability, acknowledging when you don’t have all the answers, and being open to learning from those around you. Authentic leaders inspire trust and foster loyalty by building real, human connections with their teams.

What are some of your passions outside of work? What do you like to do in your time off?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about traveling and exploring new cultures—it broadens my perspective and gives me fresh ideas. I also enjoy reading, especially non-fiction and tech-related books. In my downtime, I like to unwind with yoga and meditation to maintain a balanced mental state. Additionally, I love teaching little kids about ethics and values, which is incredibly fulfilling as it helps shape their understanding of the world. Gardening is another passion of mine; it’s a peaceful way to connect with nature and allows me to step away from the fast pace of work.

What is your biggest goal? Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

My biggest goal is to continue driving innovation that has a real impact on society. In the next five years, I see myself taking on more leadership responsibilities, potentially shaping the strategic direction of a company or even starting my own venture focused on ethical AI and data analytics. I also hope to continue advocating for diversity and inclusion in tech, playing a part in making the industry more accessible to underrepresented groups.

What advice would you give to aspiring technology leaders who aim to make a positive impact in their organizations and the industry as a whole?

My advice would be to always stay curious and never stop learning. The tech landscape is constantly evolving, so adaptability is key. I’d also emphasize the importance of building strong relationships and networks—collaboration often leads to the best innovations. Finally, focus on creating value, not just for your company but for society at large. Leaders who can balance business success with social responsibility are the ones who truly make a lasting impact.
